Submission Guidelines
Guidelines Applicable to All Submissions:
Style Guide: Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Sixth Edition.
Concurrent Submissions to Other Publications: Not accepted.
Figures and Graphs: Supply camera-ready art.
Manuscript Submission: Email one copy in Microsoft Word 2007 format to Dr. Michael Cuyjet, Editor, JSEHE: JSEHEcuyjet@louisville.edu. Documents should include a title page that includes name of author(s), position, institution affiliated, and submission title. Information on the title page identifying the author and his/her institution should not occur in any other part of the manuscript. The manuscript should be double-spaced in times roman, 12-point font, and use one inch margins throughout the document. Each page should be numbered in the lower right corner and contain a running header. All manuscripts will be acknowledged and authors will be notified of acceptance prior to publication. The editors reserve the right to edit or rewrite accepted articles to meet the JSEHE standards or space limitations.
Review Process: A refereed, blind review system is used. The criteria in which submissions will be reviewed include: significance of topic, style of writing, quality of methodology or quality of program, contribution to higher education fields, and usefulness to faculty and/or practitioners.
Journal Sections
In Focus
Authors may submit original, replicated, and creative quantitative or qualitative research that may be generalizable to Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, West Virginia, and Indiana college students or university practice. Manuscripts should not exceed 4,500 words, which includes references and charts.
Around the Campus
Authors may submit manuscripts about specific innovative campus programs, activities, techniques, collaborative projects, and outreach efforts that may have applicability to student engagement in higher education. Manuscripts should not exceed 1,500 words, which includes any references or charts.
Featured Theses
Authors may submit successful masters and doctoral level theses on topics related to student engagement in higher education. Manuscripts should not exceed 3,000 words, which includes any references or charts.
A Global Voice
A Global Voice are editorials submitted by faculty (Spring) and practitioners (Fall) related to international education and its emphasis on student engagement in higher education throughout the world. Manuscripts should not exceed 2,000 words.
Book Reviews
Authors may submit a review of selected books that pertain to work or research in student affairs, international education, student services, higher education administration, or student engagement. Authors should first consult with the editors about specific books prior to the review. Book reviews should not exceed 1,500 words.
